In 2008, Marianne Piketty (violonist) and Jean-Paul Houvion (President of the Jeunesses Musicales de France de Lorraine) met with the Mayor of Mirecourt to talk about the creation of an International Violin Competition in the city of violin making.

Easely convinced, the municipality and its culture departement jointly with the Jeunesses Musicales de France de Lorraine and under the artistic management of Marianne Piketty, organized the 1st Musical Meeting of Mirecourt in November 2009.
